Micah + Cristie Engagement Part 2 | Atlanta, GA

This is part 2, the EPIC part of the engagement session with Micah and Cristie in Atlanta, Georgia. This is just a brief peek at their themed engagement shoot. The location was magnificent! I can’t even say how difficult it was to get some of their amazing photos with crowds of people constantly walking in view, but I pulled it off and they were so patient to make sure I got the shot. If you want to see the full and complete awesomeness of this engagement session, come back in March 2013 for the full reveal after international competition. I am so thankful that they agreed to be my muses for the day and let me turn their love, and add a little fun and adventure, into my art. It was really a memorable time and I am so thankful to have been a part of this time in their lives and that I could create something so great for them to remember it by…and gained some friends along the way! I think we had about an 8 hour day of engagement photos! And I still could have done so much more. Being in the urban setting with the city as my backdrop…my mind was spinning with idea after idea. It really gave me a spark of excitement that I will soon have so much inspiration alongside other Colorado wedding photographers. I can’t wait to get shooting in Denver! Micah + Cristie Engagement Part 1 | Atlantic Station, Atlanta GA

Here is the highlights from part 1 of my engagement session with Micah and Cristie in Atlanta, Georgia at the Atlantic Station by the Millenium Gate. We had a great time with some fun shots and some fashion inspired portraits. I was so excited to have a cityscape and the urban environment to shoot engagement photos in. Part 2 is the part of the session that we did to compose a true piece of art and compete with internationally. All I can say is that Micah and Cristie exceeded my expectations and I am so happy they agreed to by my muses for the day. It made me so excited to think about the future and the photos I will be taking in Denver and throughout Colorado in just 8 short weeks! Michael & Melissa Destination Wedding Near Seaside Florida

Michael and Melissa had been planning the perfect destination wedding in Florida for over 6 months. It was just a few days before the big day and there were bad thunderstorms coming and predicted to last the whole day. So last minute, Water To Wine, suggested to move the wedding up a day so they could have the perfect and beautiful day they had been planning and dreaming of. Melissa was so positive through the whole experience and didn’t let it get her down to change everything at the last minute. Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar and Sweet for Sirten were able to change the reception and cake to one day before, guests were notified and able to make it, and Water to Wine changed the whole schedule. We had perfect weather, not too hot, a little breezy, no clouds, no rain, no storms! They stayed in Seacrest and the ceremony was held at Walton Dunes and the reception followed in Seaside, Florida at Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar. Water to Wine blew us away with all the beautiful rustic, vintage, and chic details, and flowers, flower, flowers! The photos of Michael and Melissa walking down the beach are some of my favorites…I couldn’t have asked for better light. I also got that epic silhouette photo in Seaside after the reception. The day was just perfect. And it was the right decision to move the date. The next day…we had nasty storms all day!

Micah & Cristie Engagement Teaser Atlanta

April 24th we traveled to Atlanta for a 2 part “EPIC” in my words, haha, engagement session. Part 1 was the typical engagement shoot with a little of the “Micah” touch and my flair for fashion downtown by the Millenium Gate. I completely love the urban environment and what I can do with composition of an image incorporating architecture. This shot totally looks like a fashion ad! I love the way they are framed between two different architectural elements of the Atlanta skyline. I think Cristie totally pulled off that model look.

Part 2 is a themed shoot that I plan to compete with so there will only be a very limited release of images from part 2. You will just have to stay tuned to see the full unveiling of what is EPIC, at the beginning of 2013. We really had a great time and I appreciate Micah and Christie being my muses for the day in Atlanta. Looking forward to their destination wedding in June.

This shoot just gave me a taste of what I am looking so forward to in Colorado! I am going to have a blast as a Denver wedding photographer! Just two more months until the official relocation!

Matt + Lauren Florida Destination Wedding Teaser

This shot is a teaser from Matt and Lauren’s destination wedding in Grayton Beach, Florida. I shot this image in the legal accessible area of the dunes. I placed them in direct sunlight which created such a warmth in the image and you see the love they share…add the sea oats and wild flowers = purely amazing! It may be one of my all time wedding day favorites. I think they need a 40×60 on their wall! Stay tuned for the full sneak peek of their gorgeous wedding day.

Matt + Lauren Florida Destination Wedding Sneak Peek

Presenting the beautiful destination wedding of Matt + Lauren in Grayton Beach, Florida on April 16, 2012. It was a gorgeous, elegant yet simple beach wedding filled with stunning peonies, hydrangea, and freesia. The fragrance of the flowers filled the beach house! This was my first wedding where the bride and groom had a “first look” and it was a very romantic moment in the dunes. One of my favorite moments in the ceremony, was when Matt’s Father (the officiant) called all the guests to come forward and pray for the couple. Then he pronounced them man and wife with their friends and family right beside them. At the reception, Matt serenaded Lauren with a sweet love song and it was very touching. I feel privileged to have been chosen as their destination wedding photographer. We had a great time telling their story and wish them the best life together in Tennessee. The breathtaking design was by Water To Wine Event + Floral Design. These are a highlight of images from the day and will be used in their custom designed wedding art book. Stay tuned for their highlight wedding film by Dakoda Jones and their finished book.

Stephen + Amy Engagement Shoot Part 1

April 6th, 2012, my crew and I traveled to the city of Birmingham, Alabama, to shoot the engagement photographs of Stephen + Amy!

Originally with the first part of our shoot with Stephen and Amy, the plan was to go to the Sloss Furnace (an amazing historical steel facility) and do a dark play on the movie “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” Through many emails with Amy we planned the shoot. Stephen’s last name is Smith so, they too would be “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”. I loved the idea! And the concept of doing a spy movie themed engagement shoot. We were all very excited!

However, when we arrived that day in Birmingham we all came to discover that the Sloss Furnace was closed for Good Friday. There were other waiting photographers. This was very disappointing, especially after the long drive and the plans we had But this is part of what we always do at weddings, adapting to the situation and environment. The bonus is now we will be shooting a trash the dress there. So Stephen and Amy took us to a few local spots and we did a slight Mr. & Mrs. Smith inspired fashion style shoot in the city. Then we did a more casual engagment part 2 session. Here are the highlights from part 1 of the engagement session. Stay tuned for part 2 coming soon and their beautiful wedding in May 2013 with our friend and favorite wedding vendor, Misty & Victor Binkerd of the Sterling Castle in Shelby, Alabama.

We really enjoyed the urban environment for shooting and can’t wait to get started in Colorado! It is going to be truly inspiring to have the urban inspiration as Denver wedding photographers and then the breathtaking mountains as Colorado wedding photographers. Our first events scheduled are a music video in Denver and a vow renewal or “I Do Over” in August following with a trash the dress. We expect to be shooting in Breckenridge, Vail, Garden of The Gods, and possibly head to Rifle Falls that month. So stayed tuned to the blog for some artistic magic in our Colorado wedding photography!
